INTRODUCTION
The Department of Psychology involves the scientific study of Behavior and mental processes. The BS Psychology program, offered under the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Narowal, is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both the theoretical and applied aspects of psychology. It enables students to explore fundamental psychological processes such as sensation, perception, cognition, language, memory, and personality development, while also emphasizing key domains including Biopsychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, and Health Psychology. The overall aim of the department is to integrate the scientific foundations of psychology with insights from the humanities and modern sciences, thereby preparing students for professional training and advanced studies in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, and other related disciplines.

Aligned with this foundation, the BS Psychology Program aspires to become a leading centre of excellence in psychology in Pakistan by promoting high standards of teaching, fostering innovative learning, and producing impactful research. This vision reflects the program’s commitment to academic excellence and societal contribution.
MISSION
To achieve this vision, the mission of the BS Psychology Program is to provide high-quality education in psychological theories, concepts, research methods, and practical applications. The program aims to cultivate critical thinking skills and equip students with the knowledge and professional competencies required to address psychological challenges and deliver effective services in diverse settings.
SCOPE
The scope of the BS Psychology program at the University of Narowal reflects its societal relevance and regional importance. As mental health challenges continue to rise, particularly in developing and underserved communities, the need for accessible and quality psychological education has become increasingly significant. Situated in a region where such opportunities have historically been limited, this program offers local students the chance to pursue a meaningful and dynamic field of study without leaving their hometown. The program opens pathways to a wide range of career opportunities, including clinical psychology, education, counselling, research, human resource management, and community development. By establishing this program in Narowal, the university aims to reduce educational migration, empower local youth, and develop a workforce of compassionate professionals who are sensitive to the cultural, emotional, and social dynamics of their community.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- 1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of major concepts, theories, historical developments, and contemporary trends in psychology.
- 2. Apply scientific methods in psychological research, including research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation of findings.
- 3. Use critical and analytical thinking to evaluate psychological information and address behavioural and mental health problems.
- 4. Understand and apply ethical principles and professional standards in psychological research and practice.
- 5. Communicate psychological concepts, research findings, and professional ideas effectively through written and verbal means.
- 6. Apply psychological knowledge and principles to real-life situations in areas such as mental health, education, organizations, and community well-being.
- 7. Demonstrate awareness and respect for cultural, social, and individual diversity in psychological understanding and practice.
- 8. Develop professional skills and competencies necessary for advanced studies and careers in psychology and related fields.
