ROLE OF FACULTY AND STUDENTS IN PREVENTION FROM VIOLENT EXTREMISM
A seminar was organized at University of Narowal on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz). Deputy Commissioner Narowal Mr. Muhammad Tayyab Khan attended the event as the Chief Guest, while District Police Officer (DPO) Narowal Mr. Muhammad Naveed Malik participated as the Guest of Honor. The event was attended by faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students.
The main objective of the seminar was to promote awareness, tolerance, critical thinking, and collective responsibility in countering extremist ideologies and fostering a peaceful academic environment. During the seminar, distinguished speakers highlighted the importance of education, dialogue, harmony, and positive youth engagement in preventing violent extremism and strengthening national unity. The speakers encouraged students to adopt constructive thinking, reject hatred and intolerance, and play an active role in promoting peace and social cohesion within society.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens and creating awareness among youth regarding peacebuilding and mutual respect. The participation and keen interest of students reflected their commitment to understanding contemporary challenges and contributing positively toward a peaceful and progressive Pakistan.
At the conclusion of the seminar, souvenirs were presented to the honorable guests by the university administration as a gesture of appreciation for their valuable participation and support, while a group photograph was taken with all participants to commemorate the occasion. The event was successfully organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs in collaboration with Pegham-e-Pakistan, Saiban-e-Pakistan, and the Home Department Punjab. The seminar concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting peace, tolerance, and social harmony among the youth. Participants highly appreciated the insightful discussions and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in preventing violent extremism.
