The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Narowal is committed to excellence in education, research, and community engagement in the field of environmental sustainability. Established to address the growing environmental challenges of the modern world, the department provides students with a multidisciplinary understanding of environmental systems, natural resource management, pollution control, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. The department offers both BS Environmental Sciences and MPhil Environmental Sciences programs, designed in accordance with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and contemporary international standards. The curriculum combines strong theoretical foundations with practical training, field studies, laboratory work, and research-oriented learning to prepare graduates for professional and academic careers in environmental management and research. Through innovative teaching, scientific inquiry, and collaboration with governmental, industrial, and non-governmental organizations, the department aims to produce skilled environmental professionals capable of addressing local, national, and global environmental challenges and contributing to a sustainable future.

To establish the Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Narowal as a recognized centre for multidisciplinary education and research that addresses environmental degradation, promotes sustainable development, and produces competent professionals capable of solving environmental challenges at national and global levels.
Mission
To impart quality education, conduct innovative research, and develop skilled professionals committed to resolving environmental issues and supporting national sustainable development goals. Make a significant contribution to the existing pool of environmental awareness and research, and meet the current demands of environmental protection and sustainable development in Pakistan.
Aims and Objectives
- • The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Narowal aims to provide quality education and promote research in line with HEC guidelines to address the growing challenges of environmental degradation.
- • Recognizing that issues such as population growth, over-exploitation of resources, changing land use, and climate shift have made environmental protection a global concern, the department seeks to develop intellectuals and researchers capable of solving environmental problems in Pakistan and beyond.
- • Its curriculum is designed to be highly research-oriented and multidisciplinary, offering students an intensive academic environment that combines cutting-edge scientific training with an entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- • By equipping graduates with strong analytical, technical, and policy-related skills, the department prepares them to meet the country’s socio-economic development needs, contribute to sustainable resource management, and play an active role in environmental awareness, protection, and decision-making at both national and international levels.
