Introduction

Department of Mass Communication and Media, University of Narowal is devoted to modernize the media education in Pakistan. We offer a broad spectrum of courses that explore various aspects of mass media, including journalism, public relations, advertising, film, theatre, research, and digital media. In order to strengthen the students' prospects for a future in the media and communication industries, we provide them with extensive knowledge, industry-specific skill sets, creativity, and critical thinking. The program develops in students the ability to assess the roles and effects of mass media on society and life, and helps them gain specific media production skills through extensive practical work. The program starts by developing a fundamental understanding of the subject in students by teaching them about the history, values and structure of mass communication in Pakistan and abroad. The foremost objective was to provide an opportunity to the students to equip themselves with the blend of skills and knowledge to meet challenges in national and international arena.

Vision

Catering to the emerging need of practical aspects of the subject. Vision of Department of Mass Communication is to be a leader in Pakistan by providing communication excellence in visual, verbal and written competencies for the 21st century.

Mission

The graduates completing their degrees in the field of Mass Communication & Media are expected to meet International standards as follows:

  1. Apply specific paradigms for critical thinking to mass communication.
  2. Evaluate and apply diversity, objectivity, and balance.
  3. Justify decisions for resolving ethical dilemmas.
  4. Write compelling content for a variety of media.
  5. Determine validity of sources and research techniques.
  6. Identify specific examples of media evolution.
  7. Evaluate mass communication theories.
  8. Demonstrate application of industry tools.
  9. Determine best strategies for message development.
