DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

Department of Botany, encompasses a wide variety of disciplines, starting from the basic perspectives of the field of Botany and moving on to explore each area of the discipline through broad exposure to industry and laboratory performance. The focus is to produce plant scientists with great passion of research. The program starts by developing a fundamental understanding of the Botany and gradually takes the students to focus on research spectrum. The outmost objective is to provide an opportunity to the students to equip themselves with the blend of skills and knowledge to meet challenges in national and international arena.

We have a long-term vision of enhancing education, innovation, and entrepreneurial activity in the regional and national botany sector.

The graduates completing their degrees in the field of Botany are expected to meet International standards as follows:
  1. To enable the students to be acquainted with the latest knowledge of plants sciences.
  2. To familiarize the student with the basic concepts of Plant Diversity, Biochemistry, Physiology and Genetics.
  3. Become a researcher or teacher in a research and/or academic institution.
  4. Manage sustainable agriculture, forestry and horticulture with efficacy.

Programs Offered

Eligibility Criteria
  1. F.Sc. (Pre-medical) or equivalent degree with minimum of 50% marks obtained from any recognized institute
  2. Equivalence Certificate from IBCC in case of O Level and A-Level
  3. No third division in Matriculation or O Level exam
  4. Check any quota seats

Grading System for BS Botany
  1. Maximum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is 4.00
  2. Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for obtaining degree is 2.50
  3. To remain enrolled in the University or for promotion to the next semester, a student shall be required to maintain the following minimum GPA/CGPA in each semester.

Semester II 1.50
Semester III 2.00
Semester IV 2.00
Semester V 2.25
Semester VI 2.25
Semester VII 2.50
Semester VIII 2.50

Note: If a student does not meet the above requirement, he/she can go for re-admission after one year to repeat the whole semester once only.

A minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 semester duration for regular students.
Eligibility Criteria
  1. BS/BS Hons/M.Sc in Botany or in Relevant Subject earned after 16 years of Education from an HEC recognized Institute with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and 60% of the aggregate marks.
  2. GAT-exam with 50% marks must be qualified
  3. No third division in Matric & Intermediate
  4. Equivalence Certificate from IBCC in case of O Level and A-Level.

Grading System for M.Phil Botany
  1. Maximum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is 4.00
  2. Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for obtaining degree is 2.50
  3. To remain enrolled in the University or for promotion to next semester, a student shall be required to maintain the following minimum GPA/CGPA in each semester.
